With his long-time support of Papillion La Vista Community Schools and our entire community, it is fitting that Mr. Al Schmid was the honorary starter for the Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation Swing for Kids Golf Tournament held on Monday, August 3rd at Eagle Hills Golf Course in Papillion. Schmid kicked off the day with a ceremonial swing and was joined by Schools Foundation Executive Director John Erickson, Superintendent Dr. Andy Rikli and La Vista Mayor Doug Kindig.

Al Schmid has made an incredible impact on our schools and community. His dedication to the Foundation golf tournament spans over three decades and has supported our schools as a business leader, donor, parent, grandparent and friend. Schmid has served on multiple boards and committees including the Papillion La Vista Board of Education, and was inducted into the Papillion La Vista Community Hall of Fame as Community Booster in 2010.

This was the 34th Annual Swing for Kids Golf Tournament to benefit the Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation. Over 115 golfers hit the course at 11 a.m. The Swing for Kids Tournament’s presenting sponsors for 2020 include the Beardmore Subaru, American National Bank and Hy-Vee. All proceeds raised are used to support 15 ongoing programs that allow for an exceptional educational experience for students in Papillion La Vista Community Schools.
