Hall of Fame Papillion and La Vista Mayors

Papillion La Vista Community Schools spans nearly thirty square miles. The ongoing support of the cities of La Vista and Papillion allow our schools to continue to be among the best in the country. The cities are the name of our district, the location, and most importantly, the heart. Under the leadership of Mayor Doug Kindig and Mayor David Black, La Vista and Papillion continue to grow and thrive, establishing the solid reputation of an ideal place to raise a family.

La Vista and Papillion have made recreation a priority, giving families in these cities parks, trails, pools, splash pads, and other areas to be  active outdoors. Community-centered activities including La Vista’s Salute to Summer, Papillion Days, farmers markets, outdoor concerts and movies at places like SumTur Amphitheater, and so much more, give citizens opportunities to have fun and meet their neighbors – often at no cost.

The cities and their citizens have supported numerous bond issues over the years, allowing the schools to grow and improve to better serve students. Both cities were supportive of the school stadium campaign, co-chaired by Doug Kindig. Along with Superintendent Dr. Andy Rikli, both mayors are active in the PLV Community Cares Committee to address challenges faced by youth and families in our community.

La Vista and Papillion directly support schools in a variety of ways. The city police departments are present in schools through the DARE program and as School Resource Officers. City vehicles are seen at the annual first grade field trip, Vehicle Day. City offices are active in the Cooperation BEST business partnership program. Both mayors are committed to developing young leaders in our community through each city’s Mayor’s Youth Council. These groups better our community by “encouraging and equipping the youth of Papillion to become civically involved, preparing them to become community leaders of tomorrow.”

Representatives from the cities of Papillion and La Vista are constantly visible in our community. Their presence at ribbon cuttings, fundraisers, Papillion La Vista Community Schools and Foundation events, show they are committed to the cities they are elected to serve.
