As a couple and individually, Bill and Donna Gess have always been at the forefront of promoting and furthering the cause for education and opportunities for students and staff.

Bill retired as Colonel in the United States Air Force and went on to work for IBM. In his years in Papillion, he has volunteered countless hours to serve our community through Papillion La Vista Schools, the Schools Foundation, Papillion Area Lions Club, and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Mr. Gess currently serves on the Papillion La Vista Community Schools Board of Education, having first served 2001-2004. He returned to the board in 2009. He has been a member of the Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation Board of Directors since 1988. Mr. Gess furthered growth and improvement of the District by serving on Bond Committees in 1992 (co-chair), 1997, and 2006. Mr. Gess has been a Teammates mentor since 2009.

Donna Gess retired after 20 years teaching in Papillion La Vista Community Schools. After retirement, she continued to volunteer to assist with music programs at Hickory Hill Elementary. Mrs. Gess has helped Monarch and Titan athletes fuel up by helping to cook pre-game pasta feeds. At St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Mrs. Gess has served as choir director, funeral committee director, head of Community Carol Sing, and on the Staff Parish Relations Committee. She frequently volunteers to visit home-bound church members.

Together, Bill and Donna have attended countless school activities – sports, music, classroom presentations – for both Monarchs and Titans as they watched their children and grandchildren. They are members of the Superintendent’s Circle donor recognition society and founding members of the Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation Planned Giving Committee, ensuring that supporters of the schools have the opportunity to make an impact on students and educators.
