Captain Mark E. Dreiling, United States Air Force, retired, is a 1996 graduate of Papillion La Vista High School. Captain Dreiling currently serves as the Chief of Staff for Congressman Don Bacon. Prior to his tenure as Chief of Staff, he was the Campaign Manager for Brigadier General Bacon’s successful 2016 congressional race.
Prior to his retirement from the Air Force in 2014, Captain Dreiling was stationed in Colorado where he was assigned to the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center Detachment 4 as the Test Director for the Family of Advanced Beyond-Line-Of-Sight Terminals, a multi-billion-dollar satellite communications terminal program which will provide the President, national leadership, military commanders, and deployed forces with the next generation of secure, nuclear survivable, global strategic and tactical communications.
Captain Dreiling also has served in the Joint Functional Component Command for Space for USSTRATCOM as the Lead for Integration and Planning for the Air Force’s newest space based missile warning system, known as SBIRS GEO. He was also the first military representative to be certified as a sensor crew lead on the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s most advanced sensor.
Captain Dreiling is also a former Chief of Operations Training and a certified Missile Warning Crew Commander with over 3000 error free hours of operations, having led multinational 16-person missile warning crews consisting of U.S. Air Force, Royal Australian Air Force, Royal Canadian Air Force, and Royal Air Force personnel.
Captain Dreiling’s military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
Before serving in the Armed Forces, Captain Dreiling worked for State Senator Mark Quandahl and State Senator Pam Brown in the Nebraska Legislature. Captain Dreiling was also a member of the freshman office staff for Congressman Lee Terry.
Captain Dreiling was the founding President of the ROTC and Military Affiliate of the Nebraska Alumni Association. He is also a recipient of the Alumni Association’s oldest recognition – the Distinguished Service Award.
An Eagle Scout since May of 1994, Captain Dreiling spends his free time volunteering as a mentor for both ROTC cadets and Scouts.
Gala 2017 celebrates the outstanding education in Papillion La Vista Community Schools. Proceeds from Gala 2017 will support additional educational opportunities for Papillion La Vista students that otherwise would not be possible, such as 6th Grade Outdoor Education, the Elementary Arts Program, Scholarships for Graduating Seniors and more. Gala serves as an occasion to publicly recognize new Hall of Fame Distinguished Alumni, Legendary Educators, and Community Boosters.
Sixth grade students at Patriot Elementary had a blast participating in the pilot STEAM Enrichment Day. This cross-curriculum day of learning was a celebration of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
