2017 Community Booster Hall of Fame recipient: Midlands Community Foundation
Midlands Community Foundation has been a staple of this community since 1994, established to assist with community development by improving and enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Sarpy and Cass counties. The Foundation is built on the strong relationships they have with you – supporters, advocates, and local leaders in our communities.
Midlands Community Foundation’s tagline “Investing in the Power of Community” is illustrated and fulfilled by providing donors with a simple and powerful approach to giving, offering them a variety of giving tools to help meet the challenges of changing times. The Foundation offers a range of charitable giving options that provide tax benefits and strategic advice about charities. It offers donors the opportunity to establish charitable funds including affiliated funds, field of interest funds, designated funds, donor advised funds, and scholarship funds to meet their charitable intent. To date, more than 100 charitable funds have been established at MCF. These funds, including the Papillion-La Vista Schools Foundation Fund, serve an array of needs, projects, and programs in our communities.
In addition, Midlands Community Foundation awards grants to non-profit organizations for the betterment of the community. Since inception, more than $8.5 million in grants has been awarded. Grants are focused in the areas of health, art, culture, community, economic development, education, and human services. It is in many of these areas that the
Papillion La Vista Schools have been fortunate recipients. Within the district, Midlands Community Foundation has supported a variety student programs, including arts, health, food assistance, mentoring, and college readiness. It also has supported school facilities as well as excellence in athletics with their generous contributions to our district stadium, home of Foundation Field.
Gala 2017 celebrates the outstanding education in Papillion La Vista Community Schools. Proceeds from Gala 2017 will support additional educational opportunities for Papillion La Vista students that otherwise would not be possible, such as 6th Grade Outdoor Education, the Elementary Arts Program, Scholarships for Graduating Seniors and more. Gala serves as an occasion to publicly recognize new Hall of Fame Distinguished Alumni, Legendary Educators, and Community Boosters.
